Public Schools Celebrate Gains In State PSSA Tests

PITTSBURGH -- The results are in and the Pittsburgh Public School District is celebrating big gains in the state PSSA tests.Some of the biggest improvements were made in the eighth grade.Over 71 percent of eighth-graders scored proficient or above in reading; that's up from 50 percent four years ago.In math, 59 percent of eighth-graders scored at the proficient level or above; that’s up from 46 percent four years ago.“This year we are happy to say the district continued to make progress in student achievement in almost all grade levels,” said Superintendent Mark Roosevelt.“It’s important for parents and students that they can see their improvements,” said parent Nada Bashellia.To see the full list of results click here.
