BRIDGEWATER, Pa. -- Police are investigating after a 56-year-old doctor was accused of groping a female patient at his practice in Bridgewater, Beaver County.

According to the criminal complaint, Robert Knapp groped a patient who came to see him for thyroid problems at his business along Sharon Road.

The woman accusing Knapp of groping her spoke with Channel 11 News on Thursday. The 25-year-old grad student, whom Channel 11 News chooses not to identify, said she was embarrassed at first by what she said went down inside an exam room.

According to the complaint, Knapp had the woman lie down on her side so he could adjust her back. He then instructed her to lay on her stomach as he straddled and sat on the woman, the complaint said.

"It broke trust as a patient. He snuck right over it," the woman said.

At that time, according to the complaint, Knapp began rubbing the woman's upper back. As she got up, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her up against his body before reaching down and squeezing her buttocks, the complaint said.

"He turns, embraces me, grabs my butt cheek," the woman said. "He's like, 'You're so beautiful.' I was frozen. He grabbed and tried to kiss me. I snapped out of it … 'No kiss.'"

The woman said Knapp tried again, this time pulling her head toward his. When she resisted, she said Knapp told her, "You won't catch anything."

"This visit crossed the line," the woman said. "He came on to me."

"I'm very concerned," said Chief Dog Adams of the Bridgewater Police Department. "Yes, I'm hoping if anyone out there feels something happened, they will contact us."

Knapp has been charged with indecent assault. He denies the allegations and continues to practice during the investigation.
