CHESWICK: Monument Dedicated to Coal Miners

On Saturday October 17th, 2009 coal miners of the Allegheny Valley will be honored.

After three years of planning and construction, a monument, which features a life size bronze miner, will be dedicated in front of the Harmar Volunteer Fire Company No. 1. The ceremony begins at 10am at 1000 Freeport Rd, Harmar Township in Cheswick.

The memorial was brought to life by the non-profit, Mon Valley Media.

Dan Kane, the United Mine Workers of America Secretary and Treasurer will be the keynote speaker.

The public is invited to attend.
