Women Say Beaver Co. Doctor Molested Them During Appointments

Posted: 1:11 pm EDT October 27, 2009Updated: 7:16 pm EDT October 27, 2009

A Beaver County doctor turned himself in for a second time on Tuesday to face indecent assault charges against five more of his female patients.

Dr. Robert Knapp was arraigned at a Beaver County courthouse Monday.

Knapp's attorney insists Knapp is innocent and said they will fight the sex charges vigorously in court.

"Once the facts come out we are confident he will be more than exonerated," said Bernie Radik.

Since early October, a total of six women have accused the endocrinologist of molesting them during routine appointments in Knapp's Sharon Road office.

"In my eyes he crossed the line. He's a predator," said Bridgewater police chief Doug Adams.

Police said the women, who range in age from 20 to 50, said Knapp groped, fondled and kissed them at some point during their exam.

Police said at least 30 women have now come forward, but because of the statute of limitations, not all cases will be prosecuted.

Knapp will not go to prison after posting a $25,000 unsecured bond. He is still a practicing physician.
