Boy, 10, Struck By Car While Trick-Or-Treating In Ellwood City

A 10-year-old boy in Ellwood City was struck by a car while trick-or-treating Thursday night.

Dennis Fluharty, 10, was dressed as the grim reaper, had only hit two houses for candy before he was hit.

His mom, Jennifer Shorey, said she never saw the car coming and watched as her son flew into the air.

Police said an 88-year-old man hit Fluharty. It was deemed an accident.

According to police the driver was only going between five and seven miles an hour when he struck the trick-or-treater.

Shorey said she felt so bad her son couldn’t trick-or-treat so she bought him a boatload of sugar to console the boy treated for some bumps and bruises at a local hospital.
