BETHEL PARK, Pa. -- A Pittsburgh-area man is jailed on charges he ran over the husband of his ex-girlfriend, killing him.Jason Kasper, 35, of Bethel Park, faces a preliminary hearing Friday on charges of homicide, homicide by vehicle and driving under the influence.Police said Kasper dated Tracy Pavlick after she separated last year from her husband, John Pavlick, 49. The couple reconciled and, police said, Kasper came to the Pavlick residence after seeing the couple out at a Halloween Party.Police said Kasper drove his car onto John Pavlick, who was crushed and killed beneath the vehicle in a neighbor's rain-soaked yard early Sunday along Grey Fox Circle. Kasper told police he didn't mean to run over Pavlick who, Kasper claims, jumped on the hood of his car.Allegheny County police have charged Kasper with homicide by vehicle and homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence.Kasper told police his foot became stuck between the gas pedal and the brake and that the incident was an accident."I don't know any of the particulars," said John Pavlick's friend Dave Gordon. "All I know is my best friend's dead. I'm just beside myself over this whole thing."One of Kasper’s friends said the man likes to drink and party, and according to the police report he showed up intoxicated before the incident happened.“There are problems that are going to arise in any relationship,” said Tyler Bondi, “but if you add alcohol, nobody’s going to win.”A preliminary hearing for Kasper is scheduled for Friday.
