About 200 people attended the memorial dedication in honor of a local staff sergeant who died in Iraq.

28-year-old David Wieger was a 1997 graduate of Norwin High School and went on to study criminal justice at the Westmoreland County Community College.

He died two years ago while serving in the Air Force.

Earlier today, "Oak Hollow Park," in North Huntingdon was dedicated in Wieger's honor.

Friends and colleagues said it is important to honor his memory.

Family members told Channel 11 that when Wieger's initial commitment to the military was fulfilled, he re-enlisted because he wanted to continue serving his country.

Wieger was riding in a vehicle that hit an I.E.D. near Balad Air Base north of Baghdad in November 2007.
