Malnourished Horses Seized From Greene County Farm

JEFFERSON, Pa. -- Seven horses have been rescued from a farm in Greene County.Humane officers teamed up with a rescue group to remove the animals from the farm owned by an elderly couple.Officials said Margaret and Stanley Halsey of Jefferson Township will be charged with cruelty and neglect of animals.We spoke with one of the owners as well as a humane officer."We have a bad situation. Horses have been neglected and haven't had water for atleast 48 hours that I'm aware of," said humane officer Derek Foreman"We water these horses twice a day, ask anybody. We haul water," said Margaret Halsey.Humane officers told Channel 11 the animals appeared to be malnourished and very thirsty.The horses will stay with a veterinarian for 30 days before they are placed in new homes.
