Two teenage brothers are being called heroes for waking up a Lawrence County family and getting them out of their burning home.

The teens were driving along Grange Hall Road in Scott Township at about 9:30 p.m. when they noticed flames coming out of a garage.

The seven people inside the Colich family household, including 5-year-old twins Luke and Jacob and their older brother, were asleep but escaped safely thanks to the teens.

One of the brothers who helped save the family, Clint Pellium, talked with Channel 11 News.

"I was driving past, and I looked to the left, because I was going to my aunt's house," Pellium said. "After I called 911, I went up to the door and started ringing the doorbell. They were all sleeping. They came running outside with the hose, trying to squirt it off. Just the garage was on fire. Then, within 10 minutes, the whole house was gone."

Keith Colich said he is thankful for the teens’ actions.

Crews said the home is completely destroyed.

Fire officials confirmed a cigarette caused the fire. The adults smoke in the garage, and that is where the fire started.

According to officials, the family will stay at a hotel for a few days thanks to Red Cross.

Keith has insurance and other family to stay with long term.
