PITTSBURGH -- A University of Pittsburgh student and volunteer firefighter was sentenced to 180 days of probation after setting fire to a couch in Oakland after the Steelers' Super Bowl win.

Andrew Ablog, 22, of Monaca, is accused of adding lighter fluid to a burning couch in Oakland after the Steelers' Super Bowl XLIII victory over the Arizona Cardinals in February.

In the plea, the charges against Ablog will be reduced.

"The waiting was the worst part," said Ablog. "I was pretty much stressed out everyday."

"He's a good kid," said Ablog's mother, Deanna Ablog. "It was something stupid that was done. I'm glad we're going home now."

Police said Ablog was seen on an Internet video and a concerned student alerted university police.

"I do want to apologize to everyone," Ablog said. "I want to apologize to my fire department."

Ablog was released from his position at the fire department following the incident. He was suspended from the University of Pittsburgh until January and is currently working for Comcast.

Thousands of people took to the streets after the Steelers won their sixth Super Bowl title on Feb. 1. Dozens were arrested for setting small fires, throwing bottles and overturning cars.
