Thick Smoke Causes Alarm At Cranberry Nursing Home

A two-alarm fire at UPMC Cranberry Place in Cranberry Township forced residents to evacuate into another wing of the facility.

Firefighters from Cranberry Township and surrounding communities are at the scene, where thick, black smoke could be seen coming from the building. No flames, however, were visible.

Residents were moved from East Wing to the West Wing while firefighters searched for the origin of the smoke.

Firefighters said a rooftop unit malfunctioned and was filtering smoke into the structure.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.
