Police: Delmont Abduction Case A 'Misunderstanding'

DELMONT, Pa. -- No charges will be filed against a Westmoreland County man who was questioned in connection with the attempted abduction of a girl at a bus stop in September.“She made up this whole big story over something that didn’t happen,” said Darrin Gallippi.Gallippi, of Kilbuck Township, said his world was turned upside down when a 15-year-old girl named him as the man who tried to abduct her from a bus stop in Delmont.According to the Delmont Police Department, "a thorough investigation was conducted." Authorities said they believe there was a misunderstanding.Gallippi said he was suspended from his job and is unable to find work because he was classified by police as a person of interest.“For something that didn’t happen, not having a job,” he said. “We need all our income to keep our house and family together.”Gallippi, a driver for disabled veterans, admitted to being parked along Monticello Street when they girl said she was grabbed by a man in a beat up box truck, but he said he never saw or had contact with the alleged victim.“I did nothing that day,” he said. “No contact whatsoever let alone with the person who is accusing me of this.”Many parents in the neighborhood were anxious to find out if police plan to make an arrest.“Delmont police do an excellent job,” said local parent Ed Carfang.Gallippi said he was willing to undergo a polygraph to clear his name.
