Police: Derry Man Who Swung Hatchet At Woman To Stand Trial

Police said a Derry man accused of using a hatchet to attack a woman will stand trial.

State police said Brian Maybury, 23, swung a hatchet at Dreama Lee Rose Paul, 23, and severely injured her.

According to police, Maybury would not allow Paul into the house, so she punched a window open.

Paul said Maybury swung at her three times, hitting her in the chest the third time.

Police arrested Maybury at the scene. He is being held in the Westmoreland County Jail on charges that include aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Police said Paul was taken to Latrobe Hospital where she suffered a 6 to 8-inch laceration to her right breast that was 2-inches deep.

She was not admitted, but was released on Nov. 12.
