After 30 years, a former Steelers star received an award for his performance off the field.

Mean Joe Greene was recognized before Sunday’s match against Cincinnati at Heinz Field for making a hit TV commercial for Coca-Cola.

Greene was presented with the CLIP award, which was awarded to the former tackle years ago but was never accepted.

The Steelers and Coke teamed up to reunite Green and Tommy Okon, the then 8-year-old boy who co-starred in the commercial.

“It was really special then because I had just had a chance to meet Tommy’s family for the first time,” said Greene. “As the commercial was playing on the scoreboard, I was watching Tommy’s kids and they were looking in amazement and looking at him. I thought that was just a special moment.”

The commercial debuted during the 1979 Major League Baseball Playoffs.

TV Guide called the commercial one of the best ever.
