WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. -- A Washington County farmer told Channel 11 he's afraid to drink the water from his well after several of his cows died."We haven't drank the water for two years. They say it's safe to drink, but after two years of not drinking your water, you're afraid," said Terry Greenwood.Dominion Exploration has gas drilling rights on Greenwood's farm. He said he's been battling the company for years over whether water on his farm is safe to drink. The State Department of Environmental Protection is now handling the situation and testing the water regularly. They had a new well put in after iron and manganese were found in the well water, but Greenwood isn't satisfied. He said four cows died soon after birth, but it's not clear why.Dominion has also submitted a plan to provide water for the cattle. A company official, Kyle Stefancik, didn't return Channel 11's calls for comment."We recognize Dominion had an impact when they drilled for their water. That's why we issued an order requiring them to replace their water supply," said Helen Humphreys of the DEP.Greenwood said he doesn't expect his battle with Dominion to end anytime soon.
