ASPINWALL, Pa. -- Parents were a bit more on alert Thursday during Aspinwall's Light-up Night celebration now that they know a convicted predator lives in the neighborhood. "Even here tonight all of us are saying it feels different. It's a little dose of reality that hasn't affected us in Aspinwall before," said Sarah Tuthil. The reality is that Robert McQuaid, 51, has moved in with his mother at her home on Western Avenue. McQuaid is classified as a sexually violent predator and is registered on the Megan's Law Web site. Aspinwall Police Chief John Sabol said he doesn't expect any problems in the future.McQuaid's mother said her son is a changed man. "You wouldn't expect anybody to turn their back on their own child. I hope my neighbors understand that," said Jane McQuaid. "He's not going to bother anybody. He paid for his crime." Robert McQuaid was convicted twice for molesting young girls. The convictions have parents having serious talks with their children. "She is outside all the time and now I had to have the talk with her and I haven't had to do that before. I had to explain to her about stranger danger and explain what to do if someone she didn't know approached her. It's something I never had to do in Aspinwall," said Tuthil.Chief Sabol said McQuaid has every right to live in Aspinwall and has complied with all Megan's Law statutes.
