Man Killed In Bell Township Crash Along Route 286 ID'd

BELL TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A 56-year-old Saltzburg man was killed in a car crash in Westmoreland County early Friday morning.The crash happened at about 5:45 a.m. in Bell Township. Police said it was a one-vehicle crash in the 1900 block of Route 286.Police said Stanley Deren took "evasive action" for an unknown reason and slid off the roadway, onto a berm and through a yard before dropping into a creek bed and striking an embankment.Police said the victim was not wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
