Missing Elderly Woman Found Safe In Car 2 Houses Away

An elderly woman who went missing early Friday morning in Westmoreland County was found safe a short time later.

Search crews and K-9 units spent the morning searching for Anna Mary Pandolph, 88, of Irwin, who was last seen at her daughter's Ninth Street home, where she was staying.

Pandolph's family said she was acting confused due to medication she is on.

"We conducted a search with North Huntington K-9 units assisted by other departments and fire companies," said Joe Pocsatko of the Irwin Police Department.

In addition to a search on the ground and in the air, police also alerted neighbors by phone with a computerized message.

About an hour into the search, police said Pandolph was spotted inside a parked car two houses away wearing only a nightgown and shoes.

"I walked up, I said, 'What's your name?' She said, 'Anna Marie.' I said, 'Are you all right?'" said neighbor Steve Basick.

Police said Pandolph thought she was sitting in her daughter's car.

The family said they are thankful for the efforts put forth in finding Pandolph.
