PITTSBURGH -- Celebrations for Mayor Luke Ravenstahl’s recent victory in the Pittsburgh mayoral race have led to an internal investigation of a few Pittsburgh police officers.

Internal police documents indicate a few officers in question were scheduled to work the night of Ravenstahl’s election, but some complaints said some on-duty Pittsburgh police officers were seen drinking during the festivities.

“What I will tell you, I didn’t see any officers drinking,” said Ravenstahl. “I was celebrating with my family and these are question I’ll ask again.”

The internal police document names seven officers who were allegedly seen drinking while on duty.

It also describes a conversation with Zone Two Commander George Trosky, in which Trosky said the officers were not on duty and had used vacation for deferred holidays.

However, the Pittsburgh police 2009 daily assignment log obtained by Target Eleven indicated that the officers named were scheduled to be on-duty during election night.

“I can tell you I have requested a formal investigation through my chain of command regarding some behaviors of one of our commanders and his staff while they were working and appeared to be on duty,” said Zone One Commander Rashall Brackney.

Brackney wouldn’t say if she filed the complaint, but confirmed that she did request an investigation into the allegations.

Public Safety Director Mike Huss said the investigation is under way.

“We have a complaint that’s being investigated by the Chief of Police and the Office of Municipal Investigations and I’ll leave it at that,” said Huss.

The mayor also confirmed that there is another investigation under way into allegations of a heated argument between a commander and one of the mayor’s body guards who is also a police officer.
