Posted: 3:14 pm EST November 23, 2009Updated: 10:30 am EST November 25, 2009

A familiar sound can be heard outside of local establishments this holiday season, and they’re hoping that sound can "ring" in $330,000 by Christmas Eve.

The Salvation Army has kicked off its annual "Red Kettle Campaign" and representatives from the Salvation Army will be stationed at retailers such as Wal-Mart, Giant Eagle and others throughout the area.

Donations can be made to the "Red Kettle Campaign" wherever an official red kettle station is set up. Donations can also be made at online by going to LINK: SALVATION ARMY RED KETTLE CAMPAIGN

Funds raised through the campaign will support the services provided by the Salvation Army this holiday season and programming activities for 2010.

The "Red Kettle Campaign" is driven by the support of volunteers who share a few hours in the cold to help collect funds. Dating back to 1891, the “Red Kettle” is a symbol of goodwill, Christmas cheer and neighbors helping neighbors every year.
