Residents Join Together To Save Local Schools From Closing

PITTSBURGH -- People met on Monday night in East Liberty in an effort to save a number of Pittsburgh Public Schools from closing.Last month, an Ohio firm recommended shutting down 16 Pittsburgh buildings over the next 10 years.Dozens of people gathered at Pittsburgh Schenley to voice their opinions.They also learned about their options, and what to do next.Mark Brentley is a member of the Pittsburgh School Board. He said, "We're taking a different approach. We're opening it up to the community. Give us your questions and your comments, but more importantly to help the community to begin to organize. This is a town meeting for all. And to allow them to network and make connections and network with different organizations that are moving forward to make sure it's excellence for all."No final decision has been made.
