Residents Protest Closing Of UPMC Braddock Hospital

PITTSBURGH -- Residents trying to keep UPMC Braddock hospital from closing stageg a protest Friday.A group called "Save Our Community Hospitals" demonstrated outside UMPC's downtown headquarters at noon.The group said that the Braddock community needs the hospital to stay open and that UPMC's decision to close was motivated solely by profit.Last month, UPMC announced it will close that facility in Braddock in January due to a drop in patients.Braddock's mayor and members of Braddock city council attended the protest. People who live in Braddock were also there.
