International Drug Ring Busted, 2 Alleged Dealers From Pittsburgh

An international drug ring run by two Bosnians out of Kentucky stretched across four states and multiple cities including Pittsburgh.

Michael Lucerne of Overbrook and David Curran of Upper St. Clair are in federal custody accused of supplying millions of dollars worth of cocaine to drug dealers in western Pennsylvania.

According to federal court documents, Lucerne and Curran are among 13 people arrested after a year-long undercover investigation headed by Pittsburgh police.

Investigators said the two Bosnian men obtained drugs from Mexico and distributed them to dealers in Cincinnati, Ohio, cities in Indiana and in Pittsburgh.

One of those arrested is Mino Fazio, the former owner and executive chef of a popular downtown restaurant.

According to investigators, some of the alleged dealers made millions of dollars in the ring known as Teflon Knights.

Investigators said the ring never expected to be caught and had been operating in Pittsburgh for at least a decade.

“The intelligence that we gathered, over the years, and the surveillance indicates that they had lavish lifestyles that were completely supplied by cocaine trafficking,” said Sgt. John Fisher.

One of the defendants made a million dollars in seven months, but blew the money on gambling, said police.
