Homestead Dog Shot In Front Yard

A Homestead woman said she fears for her safety, after her dog was shot in her front yard.

The 4-year-old Pointer mix was outside Sunday evening, when a man walking by on East 15th Avenue pulled out a gun and fired a single shot, then ran away.

The dog's owner tried to stop the bleeding, then rushed the dog to an emergency veterinarian.

After $600 in medical bills, the dog had to be euthanized.

"I don't understand how somebody could just shoot something and run away like a coward. I don't understand that. My dog wasn't going after you. He wasn't going to hurt you. He was just in the yard, he wasn't hurting anybody," said the dog's owner, who didn't want to be identified.
