School Security Guard Charged In Teenage Alcohol Party

A Natrona Heights school security guard is charged with throwing an alcohol party for teenagers.

According the criminal complaint, police went to Dean Banner's River Avenue duplex on Dec. 28, where teenagers were found consuming alcohol.

Police said Banner, a part-time guard in the Highlands School District, first denied knowing what was happening at the party, then later admitted he provided some of the alcohol.

"He kind of seemed weird," said student Jenna Rieger. "I really don't even know him, but I was just surprised."

A school representative said Banner, 41, worked on a substitute basis for five years, passed all background clearances and had no disciplinary issues.

He has since been removed from the list of those who can work in the district.

Banner is charged with disorderly conduct and furnishing alcohol to minors.
