FDA Announces Lipitor Recall
The food and drug administration is recalling about 100,000 bottles of counterfeit Lipitor pills.
Authorities said the fake pills were discovered after several health complaints.
To spot the fake version, look for the words "Re-packaged by MED-PRO Incorporated" on the lower left corner of some bottles.
They advise Lipitor users to immediately check their bottles to see whether they have the fake version, which could pose a significant health risk.
Patients with the bottles should return them to the pharmacy where they were purchased.
A criminal investigation is underway, although no one has been charged.
Counterfeit bottles are marked with the following numbers:
20722V, EXPIRES 09-2004
04132V, EXPIRES 01-2004
16942V, EXPIRES 09-2004
