Shelter Forced To Move Animals

This weekend's winter storm has forced a local shelter to relocate its animals.

The Humane Society's Fallen Timber shelter in Elizabeth has no electricity.

Most of the animals from that shelter were moved to the Humane Society's Western Avenue shelter in Pittsburgh's North Side Monday.

Workers didn't want to take any chances with another storm approaching Tuesday. "We had a whole crew of veterinary technicians, kennel assistants and vets stay late tonight to do a quick check over everybody to make sure they weren't affected by the cold and to get them into cages, get them warm and then hopefully get them adopted as quickly as possible," said Gretchen Fieser.

The shelter will move the rest of the animals to the North Side shelter Tuesday.
