Private Investigators Warn That Your Valentine May Be Cheating

Private investigators said current affairs in pop culture have boosted business.

"Seems like it started right around the Tiger Woods incident came to the forefront," said Jeff Widdowson of Empire Investigations.

Widdowson said his agency has seen about a 15 percent increase in Pittsburgh.

"They start to sit back and say, 'Oh jeez, some of the things I'm hearing on the news are starting to make sense in my life,'" said Widdowson. "Questions are coming up that aren't being answered and they turn to a private investigator to help answer those questions."

At Empire Investigations, items like a jacket can be armed with a camera that is invisible to the naked eye. They even have stuffed animals that can keep an eye on a cheating lover.

"We have just as many females as we do males, from all segments of society," said the gumshoe. "Some very wealthy, and some just want to find the information before they make that critical decision in his life."

Allegations of infidelity are one thing, but to get proof, investigators have to have the tools of the trade to get it.

Channel 11's Vince Sims was inside a surveillance truck on Friday to show how easily they can spy on a cheating couple to gain video evidence of infidelity.

With a submarine-like periscope, crews get an even closer look without being noticed.

"If you have questions that are starting to nag at your mind, and keeping you awake at night, and things are not looking like they should, then it is probably time to call a private investigator because your instincts are probably right nine out of 10 times," said Widdowson.
