Wives' Complaints Lead To Gambling Raid

Business Owners Face Charges

Posted: 10:19 am EST January 9, 2004

Complaints by angry wives led Allegheny County police to launch a gambling raid.

Thursday, 40 poker machines were taken from two North Versailles businesses.

While the machines themselves are legal, it is illegal for them to pay out.

Police said they received several complaints from women who said their husbands were blowing their paychecks on video poker.

The business owners were charged with setting up and maintaining a gambling organization.
