Penn Hills police suspect there were eight shots fired during the swim party. They belive there were two shooters.

The club’s owner told Channel 11 News that a private party was being held at the facility at the time of the shooting. About 100 people were in attendance. No one has come forward.

Penn Hills Police Chief Howard Burton said one of the victims was shot in the chest, one was shot in the shoulder and the third was shot in the leg.

"When our officers arrived, there (was) a large group of people," Burton said.

The victims were taken to various hospitals, where they remained as of Tuesday morning, he said. Their names and conditions have not been released.

“Everything was going normal like a normal pool party, and then I heard about eight gunshots outside the fence, going toward the driveway. I saw someone on the ground trying to be helped up, and then he was put in a car and rushed away,” Olympic Swim & Health Club manager Stephan Kustra said.

Burton said detectives were interviewing victims and witnesses.

Mary Sullivan, the swim club’s owner, said the shooting did not appear to be random.

According to Sullivan, right after the shots were fired, two vehicles, which the owner said had been backed into parking spaces and their engines left on, sped away.

“Now that I’m thinking about it, obviously they came here for a purpose because otherwise they would have parked and joined the party, not backed in and kept their engines on,” she said.

When asked if there were any preliminary signs that the shooting points to retaliation, Burton said he does not know at this time.

Burton said no one is in custody in connection with the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing. It is suspected that there were two shooters, as two different shell casings were found at the scene.

Sullivan said the swim club has hosted multiple private parties in the past without any type of violence.
