Police Catch Students Car Surfing On I-279

Suspects Taped Stunt From Inside Vehicle

An off-duty state trooper said he witnessed a bizarre scene.

Trooper Jolando Hinton was traveling southbound on Interstate 279 Wednesday when he saw someone doing tricks on top of a moving car.

The trooper said a boy was climbing onto the roof of the car while it was moving at close to 60 mph.

This going on while a friend inside videotaped the whole thing.

Hinton said, "He was literally on top of the roof of the vehicle. And then afterward, he was even laying in front of the windshield."

The stunts continued for two miles until on-duty state troopers pulled the car over.

He four men in the car ranged from 19 to 21 years of age.

They are now facing reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct charges.

Several were students at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and were using school video equipment to tape the feat.

That tape is now police evidence.
