The shooting happened in the Crafton Ingram Shopping Center Friday afternoon.

Police said John Trojan, 40, pulled up to the Citizens Bank in the Crafton Shopping Plaza and parked in the fire lane to use the MAC machine.

Trojan left his 3-month-old son, Matthew, in the back seat of his car.

As he was at the MAC machine, a police officer on a motorcycle went to ticket him for being parked in the fire lane.

The officer first told Trojan to take his 3-month-old baby out of the car.

He then asked Trojan for I.D.

Trojan then went to his car, took his baby out of the car and grabbed his gun.

The officer shot at Trojan, hitting the man in the leg.

Trojan then turned his gun on himself and pulled the trigger.

Witnesses said police pleaded with Trojan to put the gun down.

Trojan’s nephew, Ron Rizzo, was shocked when he heard the news. He said he thought his uncle was happy.

Police said Trojan had an outstanding DUI warrant that would have put him in jail.

Trojan’s son was returned to his ex-wife Friday afternoon.
