Four Buildings Catch Fire In Glassport

Suspect Arrested Thursday

Emergency crews were called to the scene of a massive fire in Glassport Thursday morning.

The blaze broke out at about 7:45 a.m. along Monongahela Avenue.

Investigators said four buildings were involved.

That blaze forced police to close the road between 5th and 6th streets.

Thursday afternoon police arrested Buster Harper, 28, a man they said played a role in the fire.

Harper lived in the apartment where the blaze started with his sister and her two children.

Police said Harper admitted to huffing lighter fluid, passing out, and lighting a pipe.

When the fire began, Harper awakened the family and made sure his sister and her children got out OK and then disappeared.

Harper faces charges include reckless endangerment and arson

Officials said the blaze was arson.
