Person Charged With Crime

Police announced Wednesday night that an arrest was made in the fatal shooting of Pennsylvania state trooper Joseph Pokorny outside a hotel in Carnegie early Monday morning.

Authorities have charged Leslie Mollett, 31, with the crime.

Mollett is the reported boyfriend of Charise Cheatom, the woman brought in for questioning earlier this week after police surrounded her home on the South Side.

Mollett was arraigned earlier Thursday morning.

He now faces half a dozen charges, including fleeing and eluding police and criminal homicide.

Mollett will remain in the Allegheny County Jail without bond until a preliminary hearing on Dec. 23.

Jack Woods, of McKees Rocks, is also in custody.

Police arrested Woods Wednesday night, shortly before they announced the charges against Mollett.

He has not been charged in connection with Cpl. Pokorny's death.

Police said they had originally been looking for Woods because they thought he may know something about the shooting.

There were three other people in the car with Nollett, police said.

None of them will be charged with homicide, although some may still be charged in connection with the shooting.
