Mayor O'Connor Names New Police Chief
Costa Considered Front-Runner

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Mayor Bob O'Connor has named the city's new police chief.Retired police Cmdr. Dom Costa got the call from the Mayor Friday.Costa had been considered the front-runner.He is currently the public safety director in Penn Hills.He retired after being shot and injured during a standoff in Homewood in 2002.The bullet from that shooting is still lodged in Costa's head.He served 25 years on the force before retiring.
