McKEESPORT, Pa. -- A funeral home director accused of hiding the bodies of babies in his garage faced a judge on Monday.Without any detailed explanation, defense attorneys for 61-year old Robert Winston Jr. decided to take the case against their client straight to court but told the media the case against him doesn't belong in criminal court.James Eker and John Elash said this is a case between Winston and Magee-Women's Hospital -- nothing more.Winston had a contract, with Magee to arrange for the pickup and cremation of the babies who died shortly after birth.Police said Winston told them he stored the fetuses in the garage of his old home, on Evans Avenue in McKeesport, because he simply didn't have the money to get them cremated.Winston's charged with one count of theft by deception for allegedly collecting fees from Magee without carrying out the contract and abuse of a corpse in connection with the remains of 19 babies found in his garage.Winston will stand trial in June.
