In the last 24 hours police have executed at least one search warrant on Demitras' Gibsonia Road home.According to the warrants, within minutes of the tragedy Demitras admitted to police he was on painkillers.Northern Regional police said Demitras indicated to police officers that he had taken the drug, Percocet, two separate times on the day of the incident, once in the morning another at noon.A second search warrant was executed for the driver’s cell phone records.Police want to know if Demitras was on his cell phone when the wood chipper broke free and crashed head on into the Morrison’s family van.According to police sources the 35-year-old, 5,000 pound wood chipper was never properly secured to the driver’s truck.Sources said that the rusted reinforced steel chain was never attached and if it had been, when it broke free, the momentum would have caused significant damage to the truck and according to Channel 11’s sources that didn't happen. One police investigator told Channel 11 that the fact the driver admitted to taking narcotics the day of the accident will have a serious impact on the investigation.Meanwhile, according to Children's Hospital the one survivor from the van, Ethan Morrison, remains in critical but stable condition.
