WESTMORELAND, Pa. -- A Westmoreland County man is still in the hospital after he tried to make his own fireworks at home.Police said 20-year-old Michael Stasenko was trying to build a firework in his Washington Township basement.While he was drilling it, a carbon dioxide cartridge exploded.Friends at the scene said metal shrapnel became lodged in Stasenko's stomach.Stasenko was transported to Allegheny General Hospital.He was operated on for a collapsed lung and internal bleeding.He was last listed in serious condition.
