Steelers No. 1 draft pick Santonio Holmes was supposed to answer to charges in Miami on Wednesday.

Police arrested Holmes on disorderly conduct charges back in May.

Channel 11 has learned Holmes did not show up in court because he didn't have to.

Holmes submitted a written note pleading not guilty to disorderly conduct charges.

Holmes was one of nearly 600 people arrested in Miami Beach over the Memorial Day holiday.

The arrest report stated the football player was walking in the middle of the road obstructing traffic.

When police told him to get on the sidewalk, he refused and instead began to yell obscenities causing a crowd to form.

The judge ordered Holmes to stand trial in 15 days.

This is not the first time Holmes has been in trouble with the law.

Holmes will go in front of a jury in Ohio next month on domestic violence charges.

Police said Holmes choked girlfriend Lashay Brown and threw her to the ground in June.

Holmes' lawyer told Channel 11 he expects to work out an agreement before the August 15 court date in Columbus.
