5 Duquesne University Basketball Players Shot

1 Remains In Critical Condition After On-Campus Shooting

Two members of a Duquesne University basketball team remain hospitalized, one in critical condition, after an early Sunday morning shooting spree on campus.

A school spokesperson said three additional players were also shot, but were each treated and released from a local hospital.

The spokesperson said gunfire erupted after a dance.

Before sunrise, Pittsburgh Police detectives used flashlights to look for clues outside of Vickroy Hall, a student dorm.

The University posted additional campus police officers at all residence halls and is providing counseling services for victims and other students.

"First and foremost, we are concerned about our students and are praying that each of them has a full recovery. We will offer support and services to the victims and their families, as well as to our other students who may have been affected by this tragic incident. This type of situation has never occurred before on Duquesne's campus. The University is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation," said Bridget Fare, a Duquesne University spokesperson.

Anyone with information should call Pittsburgh Police.
