Airline: Philly flight delayed after unauthorized access to plane

PHILADELPHIA — Authorities say a flight from Philadelphia to Boston was delayed and ultimately a different aircraft was used after a couple gained unauthorized access to the plane.

Officials said American Airlines Flight 1655 had been slated to depart from Philadelphia at 8 a.m. Sunday.

WCVB-TV in Boston reported that at about 6 a.m. Sunday, a man and woman who did not speak English walked onto the plane through a door that was supposed to be secured and took seats.

The station said officials determined that they were on the correct flight, but all passengers were told to get off as the aircraft was searched.

American Airlines said this wasn't considered a security breach, but a different aircraft was ultimately used for the flight to Boston "out of an abundance of caution."
