All-female auto repair shop offers how-to classes and spa services

UPPER DARBY, PENNSYLVANIA — A new business is opening near Philadelphia that will give women the know-how to work on their cars - and do it with style.

The garage doors were officially raised Friday night on the Girls Auto Clinic.  The Girls Auto Clinic is a full service repair facility and beauty spa.

Patrice Banks was tired of being taken advantage of by mechanics, so she went to school and became a mechanic herself.

The shop employs five female mechanics and will not only do routine maintenance and repair cars, but show women how to do it themselves.  Customers that complete educational workshops are then called "sheCANics."

The salon is called the "Clutch Beauty Bar" and offers manicures, pedicures and other spa services while you wait for your car.

Banks hopes the business will become a clubhouse for female drivers.
