Animal cruelty charges dropped in malnourished horses case

DERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Derry Township woman accused of depriving five horses of food, water and medical care is no longer facing charges.

Ten counts of animal cruelty against Faun Dillon were dropped Friday in part because a witness was unable to testify for medical reasons,

another issue was conflicting opinions from veterinarians on the conditions of the horses.

Four of the horses were seized from Dillon’s farm following her arrest in January and moved to a Second Chance Equine Association, a horse rescue facility. One of them died there. A fifth horse was found dead on Dillon’s property,

The three surviving horses were returned to Dillon over the weekend.

reported charges were dropped with consent from Second Chance and the Humane Society of Westmoreland County. Dillon paid $2,500 in restitution,
