Arrest made after early-morning shooting at Pittsburgh bar

PITTSBURGH — An arrest was made early Monday morning after shots were fired at a bar in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood, leaving one person injured, police said.

Officers were called shortly before 1 a.m. to Galaxy Lounge on Kelly Street, where a security guard used a Taser on the shooter, causing him to drop the gun, investigators said.

Police identified the shooter as 27-year-old Anthony Lamar Williams, of Wilkinsburg. He fled the bar before officers spotted him getting into a car at a nearby street corner.

According to police, an officer opened one of the car doors, at which point Williams got out and began fighting with the officer and attempted to run away. Another officer used his Taser on Williams and was able to arrest him.

Williams was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital to be examined before he was placed in the Allegheny County Jail. He is charged with receiving stolen property, firearms not to be carried without a license, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment, person not to possess a firearm, criminal mischief and aggravated assault.

While police investigated the shooting, a 23-year-old man showed up at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with a gunshot wound, which he said he sustained while in the bathroom at Galaxy Lounge. He was last listed in stable condition.
