Teen girl reports attempted luring in Oakland

PITTSBURGH — Police responded to an attempted child luring on Oak Hill Drive in Oakland on Tuesday.

Officers spoke with the mother of the victim, who reported her 15-year-old daughter arrived home from University Prep School visibly upset.

When the mother inquired what happened, her daughter said a white male, in his 50s or 60s, with white hair, asked her repeatedly if she needed a ride home from school, according to officials.

Police said the vehicle was a gray minivan, likely a 2000 Dodge Caravan or Ford Windstar.

The victim told officers the vehicle slowed down and offered her a ride. When she declined, the man drove ahead, turned around, and repeated his offer for a ride at least four times.

Police are still investigating the incident. No injuries were reported.
