Attorney of man questioned in Wilkinsburg mass shooting files for 2013 case charges to be dropped

The attorney of a man questioned in the Wilkinsburg mass shooting said his client’s constitutional rights are being violated over a 2013 case.
According to attorney Casey Mullen, the constitutional rights of his client Justin Gomez are being violated over an incident related to a drug and gun case three years ago that involved Gomez, Cheron Shelton and Robert Thomas.
Thomas and Shelton have been named as suspects in the Wilkinsburg shooting that killed five people and an unborn child. Officials identified the five people as Jerry Shelton, 35; Tina Shelton, 37; Brittany Powell, 27; Chanetta Powell, 25; and Shada Mahone, 26.
None have been charged in the Wilkinsburg shooting, but prosecutors refiled the 2013 gun and drug charges against Gomez, Thomas and Cheron Shelton.
Mullen has filed a motion to have the 2013 charges dropped.
“I feel my client is collateral regarding suspicions against other individuals,” said Mullen.
