Body found in vacant house on Liberty Avenue

PITTSBURGH — A body was found in a vacant house on Liberty Avenue on Monday.

Neighbors called Channel 11 when the medical examiner showed up.

"The house has been a problem for years now.  They found a dead body today, but they say it has been there for about a month," said neighbor Michelle Hudson.

Hudson said she called the mayor's 311 helpline several times about what she said is an aging and dangerous structure.

"I called to report that there were homeless people squatting in the house.  They sent the police over," Hudson said.

But the squatters never left, Hudson said.

"Please help.  We have to live here," Hudson said as a message for Mayor Bill Peduto.
