Bomb threat prompts evacuation of Shadyside Academy Middle School

FOX CHAPEL, Pa. — A bomb threat prompted an evacuation of Shadyside Academy Middle School in Fox Chapel Tuesday morning.

School officials said all of the middle school's 6th, 7th and 8th graders were taken to Shadyside Academy High School on Fox Chapel Road.

Channel 11’s Lori Houy reported that the sweep of the school could take several hours and parents are encouraged to pick up their children at the high school.

According to the school's website, "The SSA Middle School campus was evacuated this morning due to a bomb threat. All emergency protocols were followed, and students and faculty have been safely evacuated from campus. Police are now thoroughly sweeping the campus premises. Middle School classes have been canceled for today, and Middle School parents have been contacted via email and phone regarding student pick-up procedures."
