U.S. Steel to layoff workers at Ohio and Texas facilities

United States Steel Corp. (NYSE: X) announced plans to indefinitely idle its operations at Lorain Tubular Operations facility in Lorain, Ohio and Lone Star Tubular Operations in Lone Star, Texas, according to WARN notice filed by the manufacturer.

U.S. Steel intends to layoff all 250 employees at the Ohio plant starting on May 24 and running through July, according to the WARN notice. The idling could impact up to 600 employees at the Texas facility, Amanda Malkowski, communications analyst for U.S. Steel, said.
