Chef bans customers from using ketchup at restaurant

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Florida chef refuses to let his customers use ketchup inside his restaurant.

Xavier Duclos, the chef at Mad Fresh Bistro, banned the popular condiment because he said he spent two years studying fine French cuisine and wants people to trust his cooking capabilities.

Even though French fries and burgers make up a good chunk of the menu, it’s Duclos’ way or the highway.

“That’s the way I make it. If you like it, you eat it. If you don’t, then you don’t have to come back,” he said.

According to Duclos, since he opened the restaurant in 2012, he’s built a base of customers who like his rules.
